Please take one second and visit my friend Tom’s site regarding the Ablastow Compendium – he’s just a poor, semi-computer literate accountant (you know we love ya), competing against a bunch of MIS folks trying to win a SEO contest in one of his grad school classes. You don’t need to do anything on the page, just go ahead and click the link and that’s it. If you’d REALLY like to help him out, you can insert a link to his site on your own blog/facebook page, etc and drive some more traffic to him:

We wish you the best Tom, but next time maybe start competing a month earlier, ON TIME, when the rest of the class started
Thanks!

What the hell is our government doing? With all the crap going on right now, it’s bad enough that Congress has to waste time with a baseball player, but now the FBI has free time to investigate Roger freaking Clemens? I’m pretty sure even ONE agent dedicated to investigating this is a ridiculous waste of time and money, and I’m sure there’s no such thing as a 1 man project at the FBI…
Can’t we farm this work out to some law students somewhere, maybe a class project/final term assignment? I think that’s a win-win: we don’t waste my tax dollars, a federal agency’s time/effort, a law student gets to do something practical (not useful really, but at least practical).
Who do I call to get that done?

No doubt I’m incredibly late to this one, but I somehow stumbled onto a video from this guy Mark Ronson tonight while I was supposed to be doing other work…Apparently he has done a bunch of covers of hip-hop, and more recently the British music scene and won a Brit award for it – After a bit more procrastination, I found out I’d heard his Lily Allen/Kaiser Chiefs cover already, but hadn’t heard the Radiohead ‘Just’ cover (my personal favorite), and ‘Valerie’ cover w/ Amy Winehouse (original from the Zutons). Good stuff. Knock him if you like for not making “original” music, but with mashups and all the other creative license sort of stuff going on in the music world, I think it fits nicely.

Everyblock (from the creators of Chicagocrime.org, now defunct) is a new, “hyper-local” news service that essentially gives you news stories/restaurant reviews/crimes/etc in the immediate area surrounding an address, ZIP or neighborhood you enter in. I like it for getting updates on what’s going on in the area, w/o having to make too much effort. You also find out a few things you wouldn’t normally, just by walking around (what business is opening up in that new storefront, etc)…
This entry came across this morning, and I have to say, it’s to the point, if not a bit lacking in detail you want to know after reading it:
Other offense: Death

Woke up to news of a fire going on downtown this morning in Toronto – not in my area, as you can see from the pic (maybe), it’s a ways off. Seems to be mostly under control at this point but apparently was a 6-alarm fire.
Also, apparently not a very newsworthy location/building outside Toronto either, since it took forever to find an article…
The building on fire is 2 or so tall buildings to the right of the CN Tower.
Now they’re reporting the building may have explosive materials stored in it, so they’ve moved back all the news crews…..ah we can only hope…

Hey.
So yes, I’m starting a blog because of peer pressure. All my cool friends started one, and said they wouldn’t hang out with me anymore if I didn’t have one too.
What kind of content will you find here? Good question… probably a lot of random stuff…mostly links when I’m lazy, maybe a few original postings when I’m not. Very descriptive you say!? Well then, items included in those two broad categories: things that annoy me; tech stories about gadgets, etc; probably a few anti-Apple links/posts (had to throw that one in there for you McGuire!); stories/news about Chicago (where I live w/ my wife), stories/events from our neighborhood (Ravenswood/Lincoln Square, recently famous because of the Montrose Av. water main break ); politics, local and national and lastly, whatever the heck else I come up with when I’m supposed to be doing something productive…
That’s about it. Thanks for reading…both of you.

Seriously? You’re attacking the guy because he borrowed a line or two from a friend of his who’s already supporting his candidacy? I’m sorry, wasn’t there a tanking economy, housing problems, immigration issues, reliance on foreign oil or something to that effect to worry about in advance of the elections? Democrats are just looking to shoot themselves in the foot in what should be a TAP IN of an election… Bush handed you guys this one and you’re still finding ways to try and tank it!
